![]() An emerging approach common to many arenas-including medicine, correctional institutes, environmental management, and health-care architecture -is to use evidence to inform practice. ![]() ![]() Amid rapid increases in urbanization, species extinctions, a hotter globe, climate and economic refugees, ubiquitous social-environmental data, machine-learning, autonomous vehicles, drone delivery, and artificial intelligence, landscape architecture will be challenged to address new practice priorities and processes. How the discipline prepares for the next hundred years of professional practice in an era of global changes is worth prospecting. Landscape architecture’s historical roots run deep and wide, generally considered to reach back to the late 1800s in North America, and to older garden design throughout every continent but Antarctica.
